It’s uncommon for a high school runner to finish each cross country season at the state meet. Add Panorama senior Devyn Kemble’s name to the list of athletes who’ve accomplished the feat in Iowa. Kemble was the No. 2 runner for the Panther girls cross country team that finished in second place overall Saturday in the Class 1A team standings with 115 points. Hudson is this year’s Class 1A girls cross country champions with a low score of 104.

Panorama head cross country coach Greg Thompson was proud of the way Kemble finished her final high school cross country season. “(She) started the season really strong and then started to have some nagging injuries happen, so we backed off a bit.” Thompson said, “Goes to the state meet this weekend and she ended up running the best time she’s ever had at the state meet, as a senior, and that’s often not that case on the girl’s side.”

Kemble’s time of 20:45 was the 31st best time in the Class 1A field. She beat her 2016 state race time by 14 seconds and her 2015 mark by 25 seconds.
