voteNext Tuesday is Election Day for city elections in Guthrie and Adair counties. Here are some reminders before going to the polls.

The deadline to file an absentee ballot by mail is today. All ballots must be postmarked no later than Monday, November 6th. Mailed ballots must be received by the Guthrie and Adair County Auditor’s offices no later than the following Monday. Those wishing to bring in their ballots may do so by 8 pm on Election Day.

Guthrie Center residents will vote on mayoral and city council races. Dennis Kunkle is running unopposed for mayor, while the Guthrie Center City Council has three openings. Of those three openings, two will fill regular four-year terms, while one will fill a vacancy for two years. Four individuals have formerly filed for election to the council and are all eligible to fill the two-year vacancy. Voters shoud write their third choice for city council in the write-in space in the “To Fill Vacancy” box. To see a sample ballot, click the image below.

Stuart and Panora voters will each choose three out of five eligible candidates for their respective city councils. Stuart residents will vote at the Rec Center, Panora residents will vote at the Veterans Auditorium, and Guthrie Center residents will vote at the Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library. All polls open at noon and close at 8 pm. Tune into the Raccoon Valley Radio Network for results from these and other races in Guthrie and Adair Counties.
