Two things big on Greene County Head Football Coach Mitch Moore’s “To Do List” are lifting weights and performing community service projects. The coach told Raccoon Valley Radio both of those are already underway even though the season just ended. “The season ended Friday (Oct. 20) and we had 56 guys in there lifting on Monday (Oct. 23), which was just unbelievable, and outstanding lifts we had all last week!”
About community service, the coach had this to say. “I was in at the end of March last year. Here’s my challenge to our guys. Now, here it is November. Let’s double what we did last year. So, our kids have taken that to heart. Last Wednesday we got out of school early and we had six guys go help a family move in. On Friday during second hour we had 13 guys with Study Hall go and help one of the churches in town help fill food pantry supplies. Community Service is going to take a bigger piece than it did last year because that is where you develop your pride. That is where you develop your sense of community, so that piece is going to continue, and our kids have just done a fantastic job!”
The Rams were 1-8 in 2017 playing a schedule that included nine teams that went 51-31 during the regular season. The schedule included four playoff qualifiers and two of those, Dallas Center-Grimes and Harlan Community have advanced to the quarterfinal round on Nov. 3.
