For the first time in 11 years, the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys cross country team ended their season competing for a state title. The 2017 Iowa State Cross Country meet took place Saturday at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course and featured the Tigers competing in the Class 3A boys race. ADM junior Sadie Jurgens represented the Tigers in the Class 3A girls competition.
The No. 12 ADM boys cross country team finished in 14th place out of 15 with a score of 282. Freshman Nathaniel Mueller was the first ADM runner across the finish line in 16:30. The time was the 11th best in the field, making Mueller one of 15 all-state runners in Class 3A.Other ADM finishers include Ethan Jurgens 31st (16:54), Rylan Heffernan 96th (17:46), Brady Hegarty 103rd (17:56), and Gustavs Klavis 121st (18:39). Sadie Jurgens, ADM’s only 2016 state qualifier, placed 80th overall with a time of 20:48.
The ADM cross country program loses Heffernan, Ashlie Hauf, and Kylie Hauf to graduation.
