acgcACGC junior Noah Nelsen picked a great time to win his first race of the season, crossing the finish line first in the Ridge View State Qualifying Tournament.

Nelsen finished with a time of 16 minutes and 48 seconds, nearly nine seconds ahead of Gehlen’s Will Roder. Nelsen is the only Charger to qualify for the state meet in Fort Dodge next Saturday. However, the Chargers came in second place with 96 points and will qualify as a team. Tri Center won the meet with a total of 88 points. St. Albert rounds out the top three teams, finishing with 119 points. While missing the top 15, four other Charger runners finished in the top 25.

On the girls side, the top three Charger runners have qualified for state. Kate Crawford finished in second place for the second consecutive time. Crawford crossed the finish line with a time of 19 minutes and 33 seconds, 22 seconds behind champion Peyton Pogge of Tri Center. Emma Swanson finished in fourth and Lauryn Embleton came in seventh, also qualifying for the state meet. Unfortunately, the Lady Chargers did not qualify as a team, finishing in fourth with 93 points, two points behind third place St. Edmond.

The State Cross Country Tournament is Saturday, October 28th in Fort Dodge.
