The 2017 high school volleyball season ended for Greene County on Wednesday night. Coach Donna Carhill’s Rams fell in three straight sets to Roland-Story in Story City by scores of 11-25, 13-25, 22-25. Greene County finished the season with a 7-27 record while R-S advances to the semifinal round vs. South Central Calhoun (Lake City).
The first and second sets were nearly identical with the Norsemen having control throughout. The Rams were down 6-14 midway through both sets and trailed 11-22 late in both. Set three saw the Rams have one or two point leads early on, with the last advantage at 11-10. After falling behind 16-21, Greene County rallied and got to within one point at 22-23, before R-S scored the last two points to take the set and the match.
Megan Durbin, Chantel Flack, Samantha Hardaway, Kaitlyn McColley, and Ashley Millard are the seniors on the Greene County team. All five played their final match for the Rams.
