It’s State Cross-Country Qualifying day today in all four classes across Iowa. Greene County goes to Lake City for a Class 2A Coed State Qualifying Meet hosted by South Central Calhoun on the Lake City Golf Course. The top three girls and boys teams and top 15 girls and boys individuals qualify for the Oct. 28 State Coed Meet at Kennedy Park north of Ft. Dodge.

Greene County Coach Jeff Lamoureux commented about the Rams’ best chances to get to State. “If we can get Bailey (Cunningham) healthy, she had tweaked her ankle a little bit, she’ll have a shot at it. I think Haley Hall also has a shot, and really, if you look at it, our girls’ team, if they give a monumental effort, has a shot. We’ll have to have five girls take about 30 seconds off, which won’t be easy, but it’s possible. It will be a little tougher for our boys, given our numbers, but you never know.”

There are 14 girls and 14 boys teams scheduled to run today at Lake City. The girls run at 4 p.m. with the boys to follow.
