Greene County Chamber and Tourism is sponsoring a special event later tonight to encourage everyone to shop local.
Chamber Tourism and Events Coordinator Michael Reese explains how their Moonlight Madness event works at participating businesses.
“They’re essentially staying open a little bit later. Each business starts with a discount. So say for example, between 4pm and 6pm, a retail store may have a discount of ten-percent. Once you get to 6 to 7 o’clock it might go to 30-percent and then from 7 to 8, it might go to 35-percent.”
The participating businesses include: A&W, Sensibly Chic, Country Blessings, Deal’s Orchard, Fudge’s Flowers and Gifts, The Printer’s Box, ShineOn Designs/More Time, Addie’s, Royal Jewelers, HeadMasters, Uptown Cafe and Angie’s Teagarden. Reese points out that each business is in charge of their selected items for discount, but he sees this as an opportunity for people to shop local.
“I think one of the reasons that we want to do this is that again it just gives people an opportunity that you can get off of work, you can grab something to eat and then you can go back up to the square and you can do some shopping.”
The event is sponsored by the Chamber Business Promotions Committee.
