There were several smiles on the faces of Adel-Desoto-Minburn (ADM) Tigers volleyball (23-11 overall) players after Wednesday’s regional opener. The Tigers began Class 4A Region 2 playoff competition at home versus the Boone Toreadors; It marked the third time the squads have faced off on the court in over two weeks. ADM sent Boone into the offseason with a three-game victory over the Toreadors (25-15, 25-17, 25-14). ADM head volleyball coach Mary Beth Scott was pleased with her team’s third performance versus Boone. “It’s never easy playing a team for the third time in three weeks.” Scott said, “I certainly felt confident that if the girls could play their game, and not get in their own heads, that we would be fine.”
Sami Schepers led the way with 26 kills in 49 attempts. Josi Lonneman added eight kills, while Amy Gottschalk contributed seven kills. Delaney Bertman came away with 34 assists while Ellie Mueller led the Tiger defense with 15 digs. The victory improves ADM’s overall record to 23-11. The Tigers advance to Tuesday’s regional semifinal round at Glenwood, squaring off against the Rams (16-13 overall).
