The annual open enrollment period for Medicare has begun. This period gives those on Medicare a chance to compare coverage options, costs and pharmacy provisions. The time window to change coverage options ends December 7th.
Several institutions recommend examining options every year, including Adair County Health System. ACHS is currently part of the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) to help those considering their options. Marketing Coordinator Tiffany Johnson explains the program. “We host a consultant. She takes a lot of education and training and testing to be able to help people enroll in Medicare. She has a program on the computer, you have to come with a list of medications, (and) it brings up what’s covered, what’s not, and what’s the best option for your price range.”
