The Carnegie Library Museum is playing host to a special lecture and exhibit tomorrow, with a focus on print-making.
Art Historian and Museum Curator Lea Rossen-DeLong with Iowa State University will be presenting the works of Des Moines artist Amy Worthen, who has gained recognition for her unique style. Hometown Heritage Research Associate Alissa Whitmore describes Worthen’s art. “So she does these very intricate prints. She actually carves metal plates, which are then covered in ink and run through a printing press to kind of put the inked image onto paper. And she’s very creative, her works blend history and architecture and nature, with fantasy or whimsy. It’s a very unique art style, it’s just fantastic.”
The event will be held tomorrow from 7-8 p.m. in the courtroom area of the Carnegie Library Museum. There is no cost to attend and no preregistration is required.
