Greene County played on Saturday at the Winterset Tournament and lost all three matches, falling to 6-26 on the season. The Rams were 2-6 in sets on Saturday. They lost to Atlantic 10-21, 21-18, 4-15, fell to Treynor 3-21, 8-21, and lost to Norwalk, 23-21, 20-22, 8-15.
Head Coach Donna Carhill said her team was competitive with Atlantic and Norwalk, but struggled to put together enough games to wins any matches. “We did serve well- 90% as a team- and when we put together our offense, we were able to have some success.”
Megan Durbin had 28 kills at Winterset with Lilly Muir next on the team with five. Chantel Flack had 36 digs and was 21 of 21 serving with one ace. Samantha Hardaway went 20 of 20 from the service line with three aces. Ashley Millard went 29 of 31 serving, with Aubrey Heupel collecting 41 assists to go with 19 digs.
The Rams end the regular season tonight at Perry. They’ll play this Wednesday, Oct. 18 in Story City vs. Roland-Story to begin Class 3A regional tournament play.
