Sunday, all Greene County 4-H’ers and volunteers were recognized at an awards ceremony at John 15 Vineyard.

The evening started off with recognition to those who donate to the Greene County 4-H Foundation. Donors can range from $100 to $10,000 levels and from proceeds from the Clover Cafe during the Greene County Fair. It was announced that $11,210 was raised this year from the Clover Cafe and 30 4-H’ers took advantage of the Foundation helping to pay for a trip or an activity in 4-H.

Then 47 4-H’ers earned awards for submitting their record books. Additionally, there was one spirit award given at each 4-H level. The Junior Spark Award went to Bailey Anderson, the Intermediate Flame Award went to Logan Higgins and Jared Marshall and Samantha Hardaway each won the Senior Stellar Award.

The night concluded with adult 4-H awards. This year’s Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame Award winner from Greene County was 101-year-old Alice Walters. Additional awards included: the 4-H Alumni Award to Bob Allen, Bill Stussey was given the Honorary 4-H Award, the Friend of 4-H Award went to TechZone in Jefferson and the Meritorious Award winner was Doug Rieder. The final awards were 4-H service milestones for the Award of the Clover. Several individuals were recognized including Vernon and Corinne Bancroft for 40 years of volunteer service.

“I think it went really well and it ran really smoothly. I think that it was really nice to see so many kids involved and getting so many different awards. We had a really good turnout.”
