The ACGC football team welcomed OA-BCIG to Jarman field last night for Senior Night in Guthrie Center. Unfortunately for the Chargers, the Falcons felt right at home, cruising to a 50-0 win.
Falcons senior running back Chase Devitt came into the game with a district leading 1,116 rushing yards along with ten touchdowns. He got the night going for the Falcons. Following a Ben Kingery fumble, Devitt scored on the team’s second offensive possession with a 23 yard touchdown run and a two point conversion shortly thereafter. He followed that up with two more touchdowns of 15 and 18 yards respectively. Before the half was over, the Falcons put up three more rushing touchdowns from Devitt, Carson Godbersen, and quarterback Kaden Ladwig.
The Chargers failed to record a first down in the first half and were facing a 42-0 deficit heading into halftime. In the second half Logan Brinks once again showed his mental toughness. He came off the sidelines and, playing through an ankle injury, jump-started the offense with a few nice running plays. Ben Kingery also had his longest rush in recent memory with a 33 yard scamper midway through the third. But unfortunately the Chargers couldn’t score in the second half, and allowed a final touchdown to Falcons’ Nick Sholty.
The members of this year’s senior class are: Logan Brinks, Caden Wardyn, Cole Boyer, Sam Fuller, Nate Schiller, Collin Stowe, Owen Hansen, and Dustin Hansen. Head Coach Mark McDermott thanks each of his seniors for an outstanding effort and dedication to the team. The Falcons improve to 5-3 and the Chargers fall to 1-7. ACGC will close out the season next Friday at Logan-Magnolia.
