At their most recent meeting, the Dallas County Supervisors had several discussions with the facilities management department.
First, they went over bid proposals for the courthouse landscape project. Two of the contractors had representatives attend the meeting and answer questions the Board had regarding the project. In particular, Supervisor Chair Kim Chapman had concerns with the two ash trees currently on the grounds. The contractors indicated there were ways to save the trees from the invasive Emerald Ash Borer, though it will cost extra. The Supervisors didn’t take action on accepting either bid, as they’d like their proposals to become more uniform in their content. They will continue discussion next week.
The Board also discussed the bids received for roof repairs for County facilities. At the previous week’s meeting the Board awarded contracts to two different contractors to work on the Human Services Campus and the 902 Court Street buildings. However, the contractor assigned to the Human Services Campus told the County they wouldn’t be able to start work until this spring. The Board felt the roof work for the building was important to start as soon as possible, so they will look into their options this week.
Finally, the Supervisors held discussion on several maintenance projects for the courthouse. There have been issues with water leakage, as well as other problems in the facility. The County will work on a request for proposals to be discussed at a future meeting.
