It’s Homecoming Week for West Central Valley, and the Wildcats will have the opportunity the accomplish something for the first time in four seasons: get a third season victory. The Wildcats will have the first of two chances to get that win tomorrow night against 6-1 South Hamilton.
The Hawks come into Stuart losing just to district leading Van Meter. While the Hawks are probably looking ahead to an early postseason showdown with Eagle Grove next Friday, they have to get the job done against the Wildcats tomorrow night if they want a good chance at the postseason. Senior quarterback Marco Balderas has the second worst touchdown-interception ratio among district starting quarterbacks at -2. Only Panorama’s Luke South has a lower ratio (-3). However, the Hawks rely heavily on their tandem rushing attack with two of the top five in the district. Senior Logan Klemp and junior DJ Klogan both have eight touchdowns, and combine for over 1,300 yards on the season.
Early in the season the Wildcats were led by Homecoming King Brock Wolfe. However, Cole Arnburgh and Billy Larsen have added some support to make the Wildcats’ passing game the most explosive in the district. Junior Carson Wadle has already broken the WCV single season passing record with nearly 1,600 yards. This is also the first season WCV has had two 500 yard receivers in Arnburg and Wolfe.
Kickoff is at 7 pm.
