Mitch Moore has coached in trophy games before, but the first year Greene County head football coach told Raccoon Valley Radio tomorrow night will be the first time he’s had a team play for a cowbell. The Rams are 1-6 overall and 1-4 in Class 3A District 2 and they’ll head to Perry tomorrow night against a Blue Jays team that is 2-5 overall and also 1-4 in the district. The Rotary clubs from Jefferson and Perry in 1928 jointly donated an actual cowbell that resides with the winning team each year.

The coach was asked if the Cowbell is to return to Greene County, what will have to take place. “They’ve got a quarterback, a running back, and a receiver, that would start for any team we’ve played this year, so they’ve got some guys that can really score, and score at a rapid pace. In order for us to keep that bell, we need to contain those guys. We also need to do what I’ve been preaching all year, and that’s eliminate the stupid penalties that we continue to rack up each week. We’ve got to focus on attention to detail on Friday night.”

Coverage on KG98, KDLS 1310 AM and 99.7 FM starts Friday night at 6:30 p.m. with kickoff at Dewey Field in Perry at 7:30 p.m.
