The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
County Conservation Director Joe Hanner presented budget revisions to the Board. The department sold two trailers and received $500 in Iowa Communities Assurance Pool grant funds. Hanner also updated the Board on the new security lights installed at Nations Bridge Park. He also projects a major boost in camping revenue. “I took where we were at October 1st and then I took last year’s number from March through June and just plugged them in and I think we were around $11,000 over.”
Then the Board reviewed a county-held tax sale certificate on 306 North Harrison Street in Stuart. The City is interested in tearing down the property, as it has been unkept for a few years. The back taxes on the property total just over $2,000. The Board moved to sell the certificate to the City of Stuart for the amount in back taxes, not including interest. The Board also discussed a quote from Tyler Technologies for new software for the Recorder’s Office. The Board will wait for an official contract before proceeding with the updates.
The Board then approved the contract with Irlmeier Construction, for the cold storage project, at $74,743. County Engineer Josh Sebern presented a proposal to place a stop sign at the intersection of 340th Street and Ute Avenue just northwest of Stuart, which the Board approved. Sebern also reported that Gus Construction began work on two bridge replacement projects. The Board concluded the meeting by approving Jotham Arber as the new Executive Director of the County Transfer Station. Arber will work with Station Supervisor Joyce Miller to complete an organizational structure at the station.
