The Greene County School Board recently approved an increase in payment to continue utilizing services with a private business.
The Board approved a $15,000 lease agreement with the Jefferson Fieldhouse for the 2017-18 school year. Superintendent Tim Christensen says the School District has had a lease agreement with the Fieldhouse for the last four years for the wrestling program. The first year the lease was $9,000, and the last three years, it has been $11,000. With the lease agreement now with Greene County Youth Athletic Association, Christensen points out the District is utilizing the facility more frequently.
“Initially, it was just wrestling for three months. We’re not necessarily wrestling year-round, but doing a lot of wrestling in the summer and using the Fieldhouse as well for a lot of training and workouts and everything like that for multiple sports.”
Activities Director Mitch Moore is also an instructor at the Fieldhouse, which Christensen says makes him a dual-employee and another reason why they wanted to make the partnership with GCYAA fit with the School District.
