acgcIKM-Manning entered last night’s contest against ACGC one of three teams tied for second place in the 1A-7 standings. At the moment, the Wolves stand alone as they ran their way to a 44-0 victory over the Chargers. The game was initially delayed 30 minutes due to heavy rain and lightning.

Once the game started, the Wolves took control. On the opening possession, the district’s sixth leading rusher began the first quarter scoring barrage. Junior fullback Stephen Grimm broke a Charger tackle and secured his tenth touchdown of the season 50 yards later. The field claimed the extra point, as junior kicker Grant Stracke slipped during the PAT. By the end of the first quarter, senior Carter Irlmeier rushed for his eighth touchdown and senior quarterback Jared Johnson threw his first touchdown of the season; a 41 yarder to fellow senior Marshall Hansen.

The Charger offense abandoned last week’s effective wildcat formation utilizing Caden Wardyn and defaulted to their usual run-first mentality. Later in the quarter Bryce Littler threw an interception and Logan Brinks reinjured his left ankle.

The game was delayed again at the 2:43 mark in the second quarter. The delay marked a make-shift halftime, and the rest of the game concluded after the delay. At the point of the delay the Wolves already accumulated 37 points and earned a continuous clock to run out the rest of the game. The Wolves improve to 5-2 on the season and are currently in second place. Logan-Magnolia lost to Missouri Valley last night and the game between OA-BCIG and ASHTW was postponed to today.

The Chargers fall to 1-6 on the season and will wrap up their home schedule next Friday against OA-BCIG. Senior Night kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
