springbrook-state-parkFall is a beautiful time to get out and enjoy the outdoors. The weather has certainly helped increase park numbers across Guthrie County, including Springbrook State Park.

In 2016, the park saw approximately 107,000 visitors. Nearly 5,500 campers came to the park, along with 480 shelter visitors and 354 individuals renting the Sherburne Cabin. As of the end of September, the park has already seen the same number of visitors as all of 2016 and project nearly 120,000 by the end of the year. However, there was some bridge construction last year, which slightly lowered park attendees.

State Park Manager Carolyn Guttenfelder points out an interesting change about this year’s numbers. “We have seen a pretty drastic change in our clientele base. The more reservable sites we have, we start seeing a lot more families coming from greater distances because they can plan ahead.”

The Park recently completed a clean-up day and the staff are hoping to keep programming going throughout the year.
