Tomorrow is National Manufacturer’s Day.

Greene County Development Corporation is partnering with local manufacturers to allow everyone the opportunity to take tours of the facilities and learn about the products they make.

GCDC Executive Director Ken Paxton says tours will be given at John Deere and Bauer Built Manufacturing, both in Paton. Students from five area high schools including Greene County, Ogden and Boone, will be touring each business in the morning. At 1 and 2pm there will be tours for the public. Paxton talks about how important manufacturers are in a community.

“We are lucky. We’ve been fortunate just for the last 10 to 20 years really, those manufacturers are solid. They remain in our community, they expand in our community, they add additional jobs and they are an enormous asset. They’re all made possible because of the strong work base that are provided by our major manufacturers.”

Paxton is hoping to continue to rotate all of the manufacturers every year on National Manufacturer’s Day.

Both tours on Friday are free and open to the public.
