stuart cityThe Stuart City Council met in a special session Monday.

The Council approved a resolution to take additional action on proposals to enter into loan agreements and combine other loan agreements. However a resident brought up a section of state code nullifying the approval due to a publishing restriction. The Council have put the official approval of the resolution on hold while pursuing code compliance.

Stuart Enterprise for Economic Development Liaison Kristen Renslow updated the Council on current SEED projects. The water spigot at the Stuart pocket park should be connected by the end of the week. The Stuart sign project near McDonald’s is also taking shape. The bushes should be removed by the end of the month and the project should be finished by the middle of next month. SEED is also consulting Johnson’s Monument company for benches downtown. The downtown beautification plans include six waste receptacles as well.

Finally the Council appointed Tim Young to replace Dennis Morgan on the Stuart Utility Board and agreed to sell a City owned tractor, maintainer, and Vibra Pack. The pool painting project has also been placed on hold until next year, with a simple patch paint to be completed next spring.
