There is a lot to come this week for Greene County High School’s homecoming.
Tonight is the varsity volleyball team’s annual Cancer Awareness match against Roland-Story. Head coach Donna Carhill says the volleyball players sold t-shirts earlier this year with their logo on them, which she would like the fans to wear tonight in support of pancreatic cancer. Carhill has had two family members pass away from the disease. At the match, a “passing of the hat” will be done in the stands with all proceeds to go to pancreatic cancer research.
Other homecoming activities include the jersey auction and bonfire at the Greene County Fairgrounds starting at 6:30pm. Student Council President Regan Lamoureux invites everyone to Wednesday night’s activities.
“Yeah I went last year and I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a really fun way to get a lot of people out and involve the entire community. I think people really enjoyed it.”
Student Council Advisor Deb Marquardt reminds everyone there’s still time to get a parade entry in for Friday’s homecoming parade. Deadline for parade entries is Thursday. Lineup for the parade takes place at the high school parking lot at 1pm on Friday and the parade starts at 2pm.
