Fall has officially begun, though you wouldn’t know it based on the recent weather. This past weekend was the hottest on record for much of the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

Perry saw record high temperatures three days in a row, according to the National Weather Service. The high Friday was 94 degrees, breaking a record of 91 set all the way back in 1938. On Saturday, the high temperature was 93, which also broke the previous record of 91. Finally, for Sunday the previous record of 92 was set in 2016, though it only lasted one year as Perry experienced 93-degree temperatures.

One county over, Guthrie Center nearly set a new record Saturday, as the high of 88 degrees came up one degree short of the 1930 record of 89. However, the record for Sunday would fall as the City saw temperatures as high as 93, breaking the 1920 record of 89. Temperatures are forecasted to become more autumn-like this week, as it’s only supposed to get in the low-to-mid 70’s.
