Another meet championship was earned late last week by the Panorama Panthers girls cross country team. Runners from six area schools took part in last Thursday’s Audubon cross country meet including AC/GC, IKM-Manning, Nodaway Valley, Orient-Macksburg, Paton-Churdan, Riverside, and Tri-Center. The Panthers’ place five girls runners in the top 13, winning the event with 39 points.
Ella Waddle continues to finish near the front of the pack in her initial varsity season. She placed second overall at the meet with a time of 20:23, and set another course record for Panorama. Gwen Steffen was the sixth person to cross the finish line, clocking her race in 23:40. Other top placers for Panorama include Oliva Steffen ninth (24:36), Brianna Hoffman 12th (25:16), Bryn Steffen 13th (25:45).
The Panorama boys cross country team had a fourth-place finish out of six teams with 112 points. Josh Carstens highlighted the Panther finishers with a fifth-place finish at 18:43. Other top finishers for Panorama included Danny Nordquist 19th (19:45), Kaleb Randal 30th (20:44), Emry Colby 33rd (21:16), and Noah Kirtley 34th (21:25).
The Panther boys and girls cross country teams return to race competition Thursday in a meet hosted by West Central Valley High School.
