One of the bright spots for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn (ADM) Tigers football team (1-4 overall; 0-3 Class 3A District 7) in their 55-7 loss to Harlan last Friday was a long reception in the second quarter. The Tigers had the ball on their 25-yard line, trailing 21-0 with 11:10 remaining in the second quarter. Quarterback Matthew West was flushed from the pocket and fired a short pass along the near sideline to Cole Knoll. Knoll hauled it in at 30, spun off his defender, and ran 70 yards for his third touchdown of the season. The senior leads the district with 252 yards receiving, and his three scores tie for the lead. He’s registered 191 yards receiving the past two weeks and scored six points in each game.
Harlan’s rushing attack proved to be too much in the lopsided loss. Cyclone senior Nick Foss scored half a dozen touchdowns rushing and recorded a season-high 283 yards rushing. The setback drops ADM’s record to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the district. The Tigers welcome the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs (3-2 overall; 2-1 Class 3A District 7) to Adel this week for a week six matchup. The Monarchs lost to Glenwood last week, 52-14.
