For the first time in September, the Adel-Desoto-Minburn (ADM) Tigers volleyball team (11-6 overall; 3-0 RRC) competed in a weekend volleyball tournament. The Tigers traveled to Dubuque Hempstead High School to compete against multiple ranked Class 5A teams. The Class 4A Tigers squared of inside their pool against No. 8 Bettendorf, Class 4A Clinton, Dubuque Senior, Iowa City High, and No. 9 Iowa City West. ADM returns to Dallas County with one match victory.
The Tigers triumph came against Dubuque Senior, winning in straight sets (21-10, 21-18). ADM fell in straight sets to the Class 5A ranked opponent. The Tigers lost to Bettendorf (14-21, 12-21) and Iowa City West (10-21, 15-21). ADM also lost to Clinton in two games (20-22, 19-21) and to Iowa City High in three sets (8-21, 22-20, 10-15). Sami Scheper had a team-best 30 kills, including 10 in the victory over Dubuque Senior. Jordan Hook led the Tigers defensively with 30 digs.
After the tournament, ADM’s record now stands at 11-7 overall and 3-0 in Raccoon River Conference play. The Tigers resume league match play tomorrow in Winterset versus the Huskies ( 8-9 overall; 0-3 RRC).
