The 2017 Greene County and Paton-Churdan homecoming week starts tomorrow.
Both school districts are celebrating their respective homecoming weeks together with the powder puff football game tomorrow on the practice field west of the P-C school building in Churdan. Principal Annie Smith says a community tailgate party will also happen in the school’s parking lot and the first 200 people will receive an exclusive glow-in-the-dark bracelet featuring this year’s homecoming theme of “Home Sweet Homecoming.”
Following the powder puff game and tailgate will be P-C’s king and queen coronation ceremony at 6pm inside the school’s gym. Smith points out all 11 P-C seniors are on homecoming court. They include: Jake Berns, Charlie Minnehan, Jacob Thompson, Isaac Ireland, Madisyn Behrens, Faith Davis, Casey Richards, Mariah Tasler, Grace Geisler, Maria Tasler and Kirsten Hoyle.
This is one of the first opportunities for both districts to partner together for homecoming. Greene County Student Council President Regan Lamoureux talks about why they wanted to share parts of homecoming with P-C.
“Well Paton-Churdan shares their football team with us so we wanted to include them somehow and we thought moving the powder puff would be a really good idea.”
All Sunday activities are open to the public.
