A weekend road trip to Dubuque awaits the Adel-Desoto-Minburn (ADM) Tigers (10-3; 3-0 RRC) volleyball team. The Tigers will challenge themselves today in a tournament hosted by Dubuque Hempstead High School. ADM head volleyball coach Mary Beth Scott said the Tigers will square off against Bettendorf, Dubuque Senior, Iowa City High, and Iowa City West in their pool. Other teams competing include Cedar Rapids Xavier, Clinton, Davenport Central, Davenport West, and Iowa City Liberty.
ADM hasn’t suffered a loss in September match play, winning three straight contests to open Raccoon River Conference season. The Tigers nearly lost their first league match Tuesday in Adel, fighting off the Ballard Bombers in five sets (22-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-16, 17-15). Sami Schepers smashed a game-best 20 kills, while Amy Gottschalk added 13 kills and two aces. Jordan Hook paced ADM defensively with 22 digs.
First matches are set for 9 a.m. and will last throughout the day from Dubuque Hempstead High School’s Moody Gym.
