The Greene County Historical Society is hosting a special Sunday program aimed at the railroad services in the county.

The program “150 Years of Railroading in the County” will examine when railroad services first came through Greene County from July 30, 1866 through today. James H. Andrew Railroad Museum and History Center Director Mike Wendel will lead the presentation. The late James Andrew donated his railroad collection to the museum in Boone that’s located across the street from the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad.

Wendel will cover several aspects of railroads in Greene County, including the east-west railroad through Scranton, Jefferson and Grand Junction that’s operated by Union Pacific, as well as the north line in Grand Junction, Dana and Paton.

The program takes place at the Greene County Historical Museum in Jefferson at 2pm Sunday. The program is free and open to the public.
