The Perry football team is bracing for a very difficult homecoming game as they get set to host second ranked Dallas Center Grimes in a 7:30 kickoff at Dewey Field.  The Mustangs enter tonight undefeated and boast a victory over defending state champion Pella.

“They are really strong up front,” added Head Coach Matt Hardy.  “They have enough depth to play a first team offense along with a first team defense.  It’s like a college look.  They have strong guys on both sides of the football and this will be a big test for us.”

Perry has showed flashes of toughness through the first four games but seem to wear out later in games.  A big reason for this is that Perry is forced to play a high number of players both ways.  Perry led tenth ranked Boone last week early in the second quarter before giving up thirty four unanswered points.

“Our thought our guys really competed in the first half last week and we had an unfortunate break late in the first half that seemed to zap all of our energy,” stated Hardy.

The Bluejay coaches have been happy with the way the team has responded to the distractions of homecoming week.

“I actually think this has been one our better weeks of practice for the guys.  They have been focused and have continued to work extremely hard.  In fact, we nearly missed the parade yesterday and had to cut practice off to make sure we got our king candidates to their cars in time for the parade.”

Perry (1-3) and DCG (4-0) will kick off at 7:30 tonight.  You can listen to the game on KDLS and online at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
