A Jefferson man faces a felony drug charge involving a minor.

Police Chief Mark Clouse says 40-year-old Craig Michael Smith is charged with a Class B Felony for distributing drugs near a school.

The charge stems from an investigation that started on August 16th. During the investigation, an officer discovered that the suspect was providing marijuana to his niece at least three times from June to August in the 1200 block of South Elm Street. The residence is within 1,000-feet of a school building and the niece is under the age of 18.

Clouse says they have requested an arrest warrant for Smith. Once the warrants are issued and Smith is apprehended, he will be booked into the Greene County jail.
