WCV (1)Wednesday Evening’s West Central Valley School Board meeting included a lengthy discussion on improvements to the school’s graphic design and athletics website.

WCV High School Principal Rusty Shockley presented preliminary window and exterior designs to the Board. SportsGraphics Inc. created the designs, including a massive window display on the south side of the high school. The Board approved the package, at just over $10,000, with some modifications on the front door designs. Those modifications would lower the price, and the WCV Booster Club would pay for the south side big wall which is over half the package cost.

Then Ryan Neil with Premier Tech presented website options to the Board. Premier Tech recently revamped the Panorama athletic website and the West Central Valley community is interested in upgrading. The site offers numerous services, including live streaming and social media implementation. Premier Tech would also be willing to work with student publications to help operate the website. The site requires a $500 sponsorship from five local businesses to pay for operating and maintenance cost. The Board considered the proposal and approved moving forward with the website upgrade.

These details will all be put on hold pending a significant touch-up of the school’s logo. Several members gathered at last night’s meeting voiced their concerns over the lack of uniformity with the logo. The logo was hand-drawn in 1994, and no digital copy exists, which is creating numerous design issues. WCV Booster Club President Kevin Dupuy hopes this process will help the school find its identity. “We have said for years we need a unified logo. We don’t have a unified logo. I think it’s something we definitely need to think about before we push out a website.”

The Board concluded the discussion by approving plans to update the logo with the help of the Booster Club’s graphic designer.
