A Paton man faces several charges following an alleged assault Tuesday.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says around noon he and a deputy responded to a call of a physical altercation in the 400 block of South Main Street in Paton. Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio 21-year-old Zachary Waters was physically assaulting his mother and brother when they arrived on scene. Waters was also choking his mother in the incident. Williams says Waters then forced his way into the garage of the residence before he was apprehended.
Waters then assaulted the deputy, once at the Sheriff’s office patrol vehicle and later when the suspect was brought to the law enforcement center in Jefferson. Waters also threatened to kill the deputy. The deputy was uninjured in the incident.
Waters is charged with a Class B Felony for first degree burglary, Class D Felonies for domestic abuse assault – impeding flow of blood and air and first degree harassment, and misdemeanors for his first offense for domestic abuse assault, violation of a protective order with his mother, interference with official acts and assault on person in a certain occupation.
Williams says Waters was booked and remains in the Greene County jail without bond.
