Greene County’s newest attorney recently became a member of the Iowa Bar Association.
Assistant County Attorney Thomas Laehn learned on Friday that he passed the Iowa Bar Examination. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio his reaction when he found out the was admitted to the Iowa Bar.
“It was great news, I was really excited. My wife Susan called me and said that she saw the announcement on the (Iowa) Supreme Court website. I was in the middle of a meeting so I couldn’t double check myself but my namesake, ‘Doubting Thomas’ I want to feel the wounds for myself. So I got online my first opportunity and saw my name listed and it was a really great feeling.”
Laehn started on June 1st as Assistant to the Greene County Attorney and until he passed the Iowa Bar Exam, he could practice law under the supervision of Greene County Attorney Nick Martino. Laehn talks about how his first few months have been going in the County Attorney’s office.
“It’s really been a great opportunity to see how the law works in practice. Nick (Martino) has allowed me to put my fingers on pretty much every file and every case in the office. I’m really excited now to start kind of taking the lead on different cases in the county.”
Laehn says 82-percent of the attorneys that took the most recent Iowa Bar Exam passed and he’s happy to be one of them.
