Greene County will be under a burn ban later this week.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the county will be under a burn ban starting Friday. All local fire departments have been notified of the ban. Williams says only fires in small burn pits are admissible during the burn ban. He adds that anyone found to do any large-scale burns while the ban is in place can face a citation and a fine.

The burn ban will be in place starting Friday until further notice.
