The West Central Valley Wildcats are growing accustomed to playing electrifying games. Last Friday’s match against Madrid was no different. Junior Carson Wadle led his team to leads late in the game, but the Madird running game edged the Wildcats late in a 35-33 win for the Tigers.
Carson Wadle posted a season high 300 yards passing and five touchdowns, none of which went to senior standout Brock Wolfe. Junior Cole Arnburg had a breakout performance against the Tigers, snagging five catches for 105 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore Kaleb Badker also had his best outing of the season with five receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown. Junior Korbin Nourse rounded out the scoring with an 11 yard touchdown grab. Wolfe finished the night with 42 yards receiving and 57 yards rushing.
While West Central Valley was busy throwing the ball, Madrid was running. Senior running back Travis Schieltz blazed past the Wildcats with a season high 263 yards and four touchdowns. Sophomore Alex Biegger also toted the ball for 160 yards and a touchdown.
The Wildcats led 33-27 late in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers busted Shieltz across the goal line and converted the game-winning two-point conversion to improve to 2-2 on the season. The Wildcats fall to 1-3 on the season and travel to Manson-Northwest Webster for a week five matchup with the Cougars.
