The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday.
The Council heard two presentations from EMC and Iowa Communities Assurance Pool insurance companies regarding the City’s property and liability insurance. EMC proposed a package with overall premiums of $24,000 less than what the City currently pays. ICAP, the current insurance provider for the City, negotiated lower premiums and more coverage, which the City accepted. Included in the new package is an umbrella policy and increased coverage on the City’s firetrucks. The City will however bid out to prospective insurance companies late next summer.
The City also reminds the public about the series of events this Saturday. The Guthrie Center Rockin’ Retro Car Show is from noon to 3pm. Simultaneously, the Western Skies Byway artwork will be officially unveiled starting at 1pm. The night caps off with the showing of “Trolls”in the City Hall parking lot at 8:30pm. Popcorn and drinks will be provided and attendees are asked to bring their own chairs.
