A reminder that today eligible voters will head to the polls to decide who they want on their respective school boards.
The Greene County School Board has four candidates running for three available seats. Candidates are incumbent Mike Dennhardt, as well as newcomers Steven Karber, Lana Teeples and Catherine Wilson. Superintendent Tim Christensen urges everyone to get out and vote.
“I had the Assistant Secretary of State speak to us at (Jefferson) Rotary and she shared some of the voting statistics across the state, the percentage of people that vote in different elections. I think the school election, the average is five-percent or ten-percent of the registered voters vote across the state of Iowa in a school election. I would just highly encourage people, it doesn’t matter who that you want to vote for, get out and exercise your right to vote.”
Paton-Churdan School Board has three seats available and one to fill a vacancy. The candidates running for the available seats are Mitch Stream and Dennis Tilley. The fill in vacancy candidate is Eric Happe. Plus, P-C is looking to continue their voter-approved physical plant and equipment levy for another ten years.
Polls are open from noon to 8pm. Stay tuned to Raccoon Valley Radio tonight at 9, 10 and 11pm for results from the election.
