Bunkers DunkersOwners of an iconic business in downtown Jefferson are retiring, and they are inviting the public to a special open house.

Randy and Phyllis Bunkers, owners of Bunkers Dunkers, are hosting an open house tomorrow morning during regular business hours, from 5am to noon. Phyllis says she and her husband feel now is the time to retire so they can be more involved in family and go traveling. Randy bought the business in 1980 and moved the bakery to the current location, on the east side of the square in 1997.

Phyllis says everyone can meet the new owner, Matt Schroeder, at the open house. They will have free doughnut holes and coffee as well. Phyllis points out that the name of the business won’t change and Schroeder is keeping all of the employees. He has also agreed to continue the Jennifer Dowd Memorial Toy Drive in memory of Phyllis’ daughter.
