There are two more Perry farmers markets left in the calendar year, so the Chamber of Commerce encourages people to give it a try while they can.
The final farmers market will be held Thursday, September 21st at the Josh Davis Plaza in downtown Perry. The Chamber changed the location from the Perry Marketplace in July, and though there was some pushback initially, the returns on the move have been universally positive. Because of that, the Chamber feels the market has at last found its permanent home, and they hope it will continue to grow with each passing year.
Lee Coons, Chamber Board member and owner of Raccoon River Valley Bicycle and Outfitters, says his business has a front-row seat for the market and he’s been impressed by its growth over the last two months. “I think everybody’s agreed that the move from the past location over on the corner of 1st and Willis to downtown has been a positive move. I see every week as I look out my backdoor a lot of times, it seems to grow in popularity. The crowd’s getting bigger, the event lasts longer in the evening. So it’s been a positive move for all of us, I believe.”
The farmers market will return next summer in June, and the Chamber is hopeful the momentum from this year will carry over to the next. To hear more about the Perry Chamber, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
