midwest-partnershipTechnical and trade jobs are in high demand, but there are few prospective employees to fill those positions. Western Iowa Advantage is trying to bridge that gap. The annual Employer Educator Summit will address that concern on Wednesday, October 4th at the Stables at Copper Ridge in Denison from 9am to 3pm. The summit’s regional impact includes Guthrie, Adair, and Greene counties.

Brenda Clark Hamilton will be the keynote speaker. Hamilton has several years of experience in educational development in Iowa and specializes in soft skills. Midwest Partnership Executive Director Sarah Gomez sees soft skills as a growing concern when prospective employees interact with possible employers. “We heard from a lot of our businesses that soft skills are an issue and a challenge within the workplace and also within a school; showing up on time, being professional, coming to work, coming to school, those types of things.”

The summit is free and includes lunch. For more information or to RSVP, visit Midwest Partnership’s website at midwestpartnership.com.
