It’s easy to see the monarch butterfly has dwindled not just in Iowa, but the entire country. Springbrook State Park wants to give you some ideas to help bring them back.
The park’s summer programming ends this weekend with a look at the life cycle, migration patterns, and concerns associated with the monarch butterfly population. The presentations will take place both today and tomorrow at 10am.
The program will begin with a brief introduction on the butterflies and their current status. The park will present several plants you can put in your yard to help bolster the population and will offer free seeds to those interested. This will be a hands-on program with butterfly larvae in different stages of development to examine and an optional hike following the presentation.
The program should last about 2 hours, depending on the size of the group and the optional hike. The programs will both begin at the campground gazebo.
