A reminder that tomorrow is a special event to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson.
Everyone is invited to the church for “Coffee and Conversation” at 9:45am. The ringing of the outdoor bell will be at 10:15, followed by a special service at 10:30am, with all living former pastors invited to attend. A catered meal will then be served to those who pre-registered. Steering committee member LeAnn Monaghan describes what will take place following the meal.
“We’re going to have a ‘time to pass the mic’ and people can share memories and things that have taken place at the church that have been special to them. We will also have a slideshow presentation during the meal, so people can look back and recall events that have gone on at the church.”
With as long of history as the presbyterian church in Jefferson has, Monaghan describes what’s been the most impressive thing for her as she helped to organize the event.
“What’s been impressive to me is how well documented our church history is. We have lots of information from past celebrations and we have kept really good records. It’s been fun to learn little details that we didn’t know about from many years ago.”
The meal is a freewill offering, but the rest of the activities are free and open to the public.
