The Governor’s Volunteer Awards were recently announced, and several individuals and groups in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area will be honored.
This is the 34th year for the awards, and they are awarded based off nominations submitted by government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and charitable organizations. Recipients are notified by mail and are invited to accept their award in person at one of six locations around the state. Individual award winners include Tim Canney from Adel and Jamie Daubendiek from Jefferson. Honorees for the group awards include the Talley Family from Adel, the Bayard Public Library, the Dodge Dodger 4-H Club from Bagley, the Adair County Farm Bureau, and the Panorama FCCLA. The award winners from Dallas and Greene counties will be able to accept their awards at the ceremony at Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill on September 25th. The Guthrie and Adair County honorees can attend the ceremony at the Salvation Army of Council Bluffs on September 19th.
The volunteer award program provides an easy way to honor the people who give their time and talent to help an agency or organization deliver on its mission. Nominations are accepted every year during March and April.
