The Greene County Historical Society is bringing in the month of September with their monthly program.

This time will it highlight quilting. The program, “Quilting Then and Now” will be lead by two guest speakers: The Stitch Owner Suzanne Sievers and Panora resident Jeanette Harms. Sievers will talk about the quilting trend and Harms will present some of her family’s quilts from the early 1800’s and how quilters were back then. Sievers established The Stitch in 2006, after teaching home economics for 25 years.

The free program will be at 1pm Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, west of Churdan.

A lunch will be provided at noon, costing $8 for historical society members and $10 for non-members. Reservations for lunch must be made by the end of the day today. Non-members may contact Historical Society Vice-President Nancy Hanaman at 515-436-7684.
