The Perry swim team will begin the 2017 season tonight in the cool waters of the McCreary Center pool when they host Algona in a 6:30 debut. Jean Dowd begins her 18th year at the helm and is excited about the addition of Panorama in an off season sharing agreement.
“We were really excited to find out that Panorama was interested in joining our program,” smiled Dowd. “We will be adding two swimmers this year directly from Panorama and both are freshmen so we are certainly anxious to welcome them. Our girls are familiar with some of the Panorama swimmers due to the winter programs that they share. It seems to be a natural fit.”
Dowd features a good influx of experience and youth and will look to Breanna Penninger and a health Vivian Gonzalez to lead the team. Gonzalez is recovering from a knee injury which caused her to miss last season.
