The Guthrie County Historical Village recently gave their caboose a facelift. That improvement is the start of several upgrades the Village is hoping to implement this fall.

The Village just installed new energy efficient lights in their main building and are looking to add new lights to their display cases.

The most important upgrade is the addition of security cameras on the grounds and in the main building. The Guthrie County Historical Village Foundation Board is concerned that patrons may be touring the facilities without paying and wants to make sure museum artifacts don’t disappear.

Foundation Board President Alex Krueger notes the importance of these small but vital updates. “I think it makes it a lot more enjoyable for the people. It may only be flower beds that we’re upgrading (but) it really stands out. Those things people really notice.”

The Village will be looking into overall exterior upgrades to the Pullman Observation and Cafe Car and the 1900 Marchant House. They will also be finishing a barn quilt project to be placed on the east side of the implement building.

Make sure to stop by the Schoolhouse at the Guthrie County Fair to visit with Foundation representatives about the latest updates.
