The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The meeting got started with a law enforcement center update from Jerry Purdy of Design Alliance, along with representatives from Alvine Engineering. Alvine had been tasked by Design Alliance to give a life-cycle cost analysis to help optimize energy efficiency for the center. They recommended the use of geothermal energy to make the facility more efficient, though they did say it has a higher initial cost. Purdy added, the floor plan for the project is now set and they’re moving into the decision-making phase. There was no action taken on the law enforcement center, but there should be an action item related to it at an upcoming meeting.
Action items on the agenda that were approved included: a vehicle purchase for the Emergency Medical Services Department; an amendment to the contract of the 5th Juvenile Court Restorative Justice program; two wetland mitigation credit purchases; and the appointments of Mary Snyder and Del Bailey as the Colfax Township Clerk and Trustee, respectively.
The Board also held further discussion on the contracts with Reliable Maintenance and Genesis Development for janitorial services. The Supervisors decided to move forward with contracts that will end on June 30th, 2019 and renew automatically. There were other stipulations that the vendor would need to let the County know by January 1st if they plan on increasing their rates, as well as a 30 day opt-out clause for both parties. The Board will need to hold a public hearing to approve the contracts, which is scheduled for September 5th.
The meeting concluded with an informational workshop with the Auditor’s Office.
